Social Venture Network (SVN) is a worldwide network of socially and environmentally engaged entrepreneurs and business leaders, dedicated to changing the way we and the world do business. It was first established in 1987 in America and has spread its network to Asia, Latin America and Africa.
SVN has its importance in socially and environmentally friendly new business models and promotes them worldwide. Taking the advantage of its global network, SVN members exchange their business experiences and develop their responsibilities to society and the environment, then change the old and existent business paradigms. This is the SVN's ultimate aim.

2. What's SVN Asia?

A few years ago SVN Asia was established. The first SVN Asia conference was held in 2003 in Chulalongkorn University in Thai. There participated Aung San Suu Kyi, the former Thai prime minister Panyarachun, crown prince of Liechtenstein and about 200 participants from 20 countries. From Japan, Masaru Kataoka, presentative of Citizen Bank, participated as a speaker.
The second SVN Asia conference was held in 2004 in Singapore. SVN Japan has been established to hold the third conference on September 17th and 18th, 2005 in Japan.

3. Mission of SVN/Japan

Mission 1 : To create a society where every citizen tries to solve local problems

We aim to create a society where each individual is independent, lives freely and cooperates with others.The society's value is not only money. We aim to realize a new economy and markets.

Economy has been polluting the Earth and markets have broken down communities.
Discarding such old paradigm, we try to create a new economy through businesses, that is, an economy which is sustainable, friendly to the Earth, and where market activities will contribute to create better communities

Mission 2 : To bring up young social entrepreneurs in Asia

Asia has not only the rich nature environment but various values in communities. A new competitive economy can be created by connecting the values to businesses.

Young entrepreneurs in Asia with new paradigm will play an essential role to realize it.
